The Costa Tropical deserves its name...
It enjoys a sub-tropical micro-climate, that offers 320 days of sunshine per year,
with average daytime temperatures of
18° Celsius (64°F) in winter and
25° Celsius (78°F) in summer
The Sierra Nevada, the highest mountain range in Spain, protect the Costa Tropical from the extremes of summer heat and winter cold that the inland cities, such as Granada experience. The Costa Tropical has the warmest winter temperature on mainland Europe. It is even warmer here than on the Costa del Sol. In winter, there are daily highs of 18C and nightly lows around 10C.
The Costa Tropical of Granada province consists of particularly picturesque beaches, and is far less crowded than its popular neighbor, the Costa del Sol.
Almuñécar's summers are typically hot, without rainfall.
Temperatures will be between 25 degrees Celsius to 33 degrees Celsius during the day with clear blue skies virtually guaranteed. Because Almuñécar's humidity is low and with cool breezes from the Sea, you won't feel the temperature is as high as it really is. (Almond harvest in August / september).
In the valley, this is the time for the harvest of avocadoes, mangoes, chirimoyas, papayas, oranges...
The winters are mild with many sunny days and clear blue skies. Almuñécar's climate, one of the best in the world, is very healthy especially for sufferers of arthritis.
The temperatures can vary greatly. One day it can be over 20 degrees Celsius and you will be walking around in your T-shirt, on another day it can be 10 degrees Cesius, and you'll appreciate a good pullover. It is possible, in the course of one day, to skiin the nearby mountains, and follow with a swim or an other water sport in the Mediterranean sea.
